Description
Bridging Bowls are the most developed of the six types of Sounding Bowl. They have more strings for their size than other models, giving a richer sound, which rises like a harmonic haze over the notes from the overtones and interactions in the strings. The ethereal nature of this sound adds an orchestral richness to any run of notes. Playing a Bridging Bowl thus becomes simply an exercise in rhythm with the thirds and fifths, music’s natural harmonics, laid out under each hand by the string pattern.
This 14 string edition, in Walnut, has an extra warmth from the nature of the wood. Made in Austria by Ramon Floride, the first maker to graduate from Tobias’s training, it has particularly fine carving on the underside with Ramon’s characteristic ‘flames’ at the corner of each foot.
