Description
With nine strings this bowl has a good range for singing with. Cherry gives a light and sweet tone, as you may hear in the sound-sample below. I used a 9 string for lullabies with my children for years, but they are also a firm favourite in hospice and dementia care.
The ancient Pentatonic scales work particularly well on nine strings. These scales have no dissonance, meaning you cannot hit a wrong note, anything and everything you do sounds harmonious and good.
Nine notes can be tuned to a major or minor scale as well, pain and sorrow are more easily expressed in scales that offer dissonance as well as harmony. You can listen to both below.
Cherry fills her notes with delight. Spring flowers, sweet fruit, the gentle surprise of advancing summer all resonate in the tone of this instrument.
