Melody Bowl in Ash

Description

The 10-string Melody Bowl is popular with music therapists. It has a versatile range in both modern and ancient scales while being small enough for smaller adults, light enough to go onto a bed without feeling heavy, and fits between the arms of a chair.  It is also one of my favourite designs for pentatonic improvisation. “On Backorder” means that this particular one is sold, but we have similar timber in our settling room to make a similar one. This bowl, made by Ramon Floride, has a clear, strong tone and is made from Ash that came down near Ramon’s workshop. Ramon was the first of only four registered Sounding Bowl makers and has a studio near Salzburg, in Austria. Ramon’s work is particularly fine, witness the harmoniously ordered carving-detail on the underside and listen to the fine tone.
